Black Women Will Blow Up Democratic Party if Joe Biden is Replaced with Anyone Other Than Kamala Harris: California Delegate

In a powerful statement that underscores the pivotal role of Black women within the Democratic Party, California Delegate Areva Martin has issued a stark warning: should President Joe Biden be replaced with any candidate other than Vice-President Kamala Harris, 

Black women will "blow up" the party. 

This declaration comes amidst increasing speculation and discussion about Biden’s viability as the Democratic presidential nominee for the 2024 election.

Areva Martin, speaking to American sports journalist Stephen A. Smith, emphasized the critical support Black women provide to the Democratic Party. 

She argued that sidelining Kamala Harris in favor of a white male candidate would provoke significant backlash. 

“If you pick a white man over Kamala Harris, Black women, I can tell you this, we gonna walk away... we gonna blow the party up,” Martin stated emphatically.

The backdrop to Martin's comments is the growing call within the Democratic Party to consider alternatives to Joe Biden, particularly after his lackluster performance in the first presidential debate. 

Martin pointed out that this internal debate needs to seriously consider the impact on minority women voters, who are a crucial demographic for the party.

Recent polling data from CNN suggests that Kamala Harris might have a stronger chance than Biden in retaining the White House against former President Donald Trump in the upcoming November elections. 

This shift in support comes as Biden's debate performance has led some party members to question his candidacy.

Martin further argued that the party has yet to identify a universally acceptable alternative to Biden who can secure the required delegate support. 

"So where are we getting agreement from on who this ideal Democratic candidate should be? Tell me that. Nobody’s told me who it should be. And then tell me how you’re gonna get the 4,000 delegates, which I am one of them," she challenged.

Despite the internal strife and criticism from figures like Stephen A. Smith, who questioned the loyalty of Black women should Harris not replace Biden, Martin remains confident in Biden's potential to win the 2024 election. 

She encouraged Democrats to stay unified and committed to their current leadership. 

“You don’t give up on your star player in the middle of a game,” Martin remarked, emphasizing the need for continued support.

Other potential replacements for Biden have been suggested, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, 

First Lady Michelle Obama, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. 

However, Martin's comments highlight the potential fracturing within the party if Kamala Harris is not seen as a leading contender.

First Lady Jill Biden has publicly supported her husband's re-election efforts, emphasizing his dedication to doing what is best for the country and continuing to fight for his presidency.
