In a dramatic turn of events that captivated cricket fans worldwide, a video surfaced online purportedly showing a Pakistani cricket fan attempting to set himself on fire after Pakistan's narrow defeat to India in the T20 World Cup 2024. 

The intense rivalry between India and Pakistan has always heightened emotions, but this incident took things to an alarming new level.

On June 9, 2024, Team India faced their arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling match held at New York Stadium. 

The game was a nail-biter, with India clinching victory by a mere six runs. Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional bowling, securing three crucial wickets, and Rishabh Pant's vital contribution with the bat were instrumental in defending a modest target of 120 runs. 

This defeat left Pakistan with a slim chance of qualifying for the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8, intensifying the disappointment among Pakistani fans.

Amidst the post-match discussions and analyses, a video began circulating on social media, purportedly showing a Pakistani fan attempting to set himself on fire in response to the loss. 

The video, shared with the caption, "A Pakistani Cricket Fan tried to Burn Himself after Pakistan Loses to team India," quickly went viral, evoking strong reactions from viewers.

In the video, a man in a white t-shirt is seen pouring a liquid on himself, presumably preparing to set himself on fire. 

The man's mother, visibly distressed, rushes towards him to stop him from lighting a match. In the background, frantic cries can be heard, including a child's desperate plea, "Na Chachu na (no uncle no)."

However, it was soon revealed that the dramatic scene was not what it appeared to be. 

The video in question was actually a prank orchestrated by a social media influencer and YouTuber named Suneel. 

Suneel staged the scene to prank his family, feigning an attempt to burn himself. 

The video, initially posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), was misrepresented by some users to suggest that it was a reaction to the cricket match outcome.

Despite the video's prank origins, the incident underscores the intense emotions that cricket, especially matches between India and Pakistan, can evoke among fans. 

The rivalry between these two cricketing nations is legendary, with each encounter drawing massive attention and stirring strong passions on both sides.

India's victory on June 9th was a testament to their resilience and skill, especially given the low score they had to defend. 

Jasprit Bumrah's fiery spell and the team's overall performance ensured a hard-fought win, adding another memorable chapter to the India-Pakistan cricket saga.

While the viral video turned out to be a hoax, it serves as a reminder of the impact sports can have on fans and the lengths to which some might go to express their emotions.
