Over 126,000 kg of Indian Mangoes Sold in 10 Days at Doha's Indian Mango Festival

The inaugural Indian Mango Festival, also known as Indian Hamba, held at the Souq Waqif marketplace in Doha, Qatar, has concluded with resounding success. Spanning from May 30 to June 8, 2024, the 10-day festival saw an impressive total of 126,935 kg of mangoes sold, marking a record-breaking achievement for the first edition of the event.

Organized by Souq Waqif in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Qatar, the festival attracted thousands of fruit enthusiasts from across the country. The event showcased a diverse array of mango varieties from India, including the famous Alphonso, Banganapalli, Neelam, and Malgova, among others. Each variety brought a unique taste and flavor, captivating the palates of both locals and expatriates.

Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, General Supervisor of the Hamba Mango Festival, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success in an interview with Qatar TV. He stated, “The volume of sales for the first edition is considered record-breaking,” and highlighted that the public turnout exceeded all expectations.

The daily sales figures provide a glimpse into the festival's popularity and success:

- First day: 8,500 kg

- Second day: 13,000 kg

- Third day: 15,000 kg

- Fourth day: 11,900 kg

- Fifth day: 8,850 kg

- Sixth day: 11,650 kg

- Seventh day: 13,353 kg

- Eighth day: 13,400 kg

- Ninth day: 15,500 kg

- Tenth day: 15,600 kg

These figures highlight the growing demand and appreciation for Indian mangoes in Qatar. The festival not only promoted the rich agricultural heritage of India but also strengthened cultural ties between India and Qatar through the shared love for this delicious fruit.

The Indian Mango Festival served as a vibrant platform for vendors to display their best produce and for visitors to indulge in the delightful flavors of India’s finest mangoes.
