Maldives Climate Minister Arrested for Performing Black Magic on President Muizzu

The Maldives, known for its stunning beaches and vulnerable position amidst the climate crisis, has recently made headlines for an unusual arrest involving high-ranking officials. 

Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, the State Minister for Environment, Climate Change, and Energy, has been detained along with two others from the capital Male. 

The arrest, made by Maldives Police, has sparked controversy as it involves allegations of practicing black magic on President Mohamed Muizzu.

Details surrounding the arrest are still unfolding, with local media reports suggesting that Shamnaz was apprehended for allegedly performing sorcery aimed at the President. 

While Maldives' penal code does not criminalize sorcery, Islamic law imposes a potential six-month jail term for such practices.

Shamnaz's role as State Minister is crucial, especially given the Maldives' frontline status in facing the impacts of climate change. 

With rising sea levels threatening to render parts of the nation uninhabitable by the end of the century, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Energy plays a pivotal role in mitigating these challenges and advocating for global climate action.
