India Second Biggest Threat to Canada After China: Canadian Panel Report

This high-level parliamentary panel, comprising members from various political parties, submitted its findings to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office in May, shedding light on the complex dynamics of international relations and security concerns.

The 84-page document, which garnered significant attention upon its tabling in the Canadian Parliament, paints a troubling picture of India's purported interference in Canadian democratic processes and institutions. 

According to the report, New Delhi's influence efforts have expanded beyond countering perceived pro-Khalistani activities to encompass a broader scope, including targeting Canadian politicians, ethnic media, and Indo-Canadian communities.

The report's assertion that India has emerged as a significant foreign interference threat underscores the evolving landscape of global geopolitics. 

With 44 mentions of India throughout the document, it highlights the growing concerns surrounding foreign influence operations and the need for vigilance in safeguarding democratic norms and institutions.

The strained diplomatic relations between India and Canada, exacerbated by recent events, further underscore the gravity of the situation. 

Tensions escalated following the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar near Vancouver, leading to accusations and counter-accusations between the two nations.
