Northern Lights May Be Visible in These Six US States This Week
Forecasters are closely monitoring sunspot region #3697, the same active solar region responsible for the stunning Northern Lights display visible across all 50 states last month. \ As this sunspot remains within Earth's view for the next week, there is a "window of opportunity" for witnessing another spectacular aurora borealis. Bryan Brasher, a project manager at NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, explained to USA Today that sunspot #3697 is still "relatively large and magnetically complex," making it capable of producing intense solar flares and, more importantly, the coronal mass ejections necessary for auroras.
