Michael Fleming, 41, walked into a Chase Bank on a Saturday afternoon, hoping to withdraw the smallest denomination of currency possible.

What followed was a bizarre sequence of events that left Fleming facing serious legal consequences.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Fleming entered the bank just before 2 pm and filled out a withdrawal slip for 1 cent.

He then handed the slip to a bank teller. When informed that withdrawing such a small amount was not possible, Fleming made a peculiar remark that alarmed the teller.

"So, you want me to say the other word?" Fleming reportedly said, according to the arrest report.

Frightened by the possibility of violence, the bank teller promptly called law enforcement.

Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene to find Fleming still inside the bank. He was immediately taken into custody.

The arrest report did not disclose further details of Fleming's conversation with the teller, but deputies stated they had probable cause to believe he had violated Florida's robbery laws.

This led to Fleming being transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, where a case was filed against him.

Fleming remains at the detention center with a bond set at $5,000.

The incident, while seemingly minor in terms of the amount of money involved, underscores how quickly situations can escalate and lead to serious legal repercussions.
