Design of India' Own Space Station Is Ready: Aim to Launch in 2028

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced significant advancements in its space exploration initiatives, including the development of the Indian Space Station (ISS). 

ISRO Chairman S Somnath recently revealed that the design phase for the ISS is complete and preparations are underway for its launch by 2028.

Chairman S Somnath highlighted the progress of the Gaganyaan programme, which aims to demonstrate India's capability for human spaceflight. 

The mission involves sending a crew of three members to an orbit of 400 kilometers for a three-day mission, followed by their safe return to Earth. 

The chairman mentioned that rigorous scrutiny by an independent committee is ongoing to ensure the mission's safety and success. 

Prior to the manned mission, two unmanned missions are scheduled, with the first unmanned mission planned for December.

The Indian Space Station, as envisioned by ISRO, will consist of five units. 

The initial phase involves launching the first two units using the existing Launch Vehicle Mark 3. 

These units will serve as the foundation for subsequent operations and experiments aboard the ISS. 

The remaining three units are larger and will require new-generation launch vehicles to be placed into orbit.

ISRO's ambitious timeline aims to have the Indian Space Station fully operational by 2028. 

This initiative marks a significant milestone in India's space exploration capabilities, positioning the country alongside global leaders in space research and technology. 

The development of a space station not only enhances India's scientific prowess but also opens new avenues for international collaboration and research in space.

The announcement of the readiness of the Indian Space Station design underscores India's commitment to advancing space exploration and scientific research. 

With meticulous planning and technological innovation, ISRO continues to push boundaries in space exploration, aiming to achieve new milestones in the coming years.
