Biden Calls Himself "America's 1st Black Woman to Serve with Black President" During Interview on Philadelphia’s WURD Black Radio Station

Amidst rising concerns about his health and re-election bid, President Joe Biden made a notable gaffe during an interview on Philadelphia’s WURD black radio station.

In what appears to be a slip of the tongue, Biden referred to himself as "America's first black woman to serve with a black president."

The incident occurred as part of an Independence Day media blitz.

During the interview, Biden was highlighting his pride in his tenure as Vice President under Barack Obama and the historic appointment of the first black woman to the Supreme Court.

However, his phrasing caused confusion and sparked conversations across media platforms.

“By the way, I'm proud to be the, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman, served with a black president, proud of the first black woman in the Supreme Court,” Biden stated.

This misstatement quickly gained traction, leading to a mix of amusement, concern, and criticism.

The slip came in the midst of a broader discussion where Biden emphasized the potential for unity and progress in the United States.

He also made another ambiguous statement: "I'm the first president that got elected statewide in the state of Delaware, when I was a kid," further adding to the scrutiny of his public speaking.

Biden’s re-election campaign spokesperson, Ammar Moussa, addressed the media reports, downplaying the significance of the gaffe.

“This is absurd. It was abundantly clear what the president meant. This would be considered a perfectly normal speech pattern for any other person in America, and has certainly been normal for Joe Biden for his entire career. What are we even doing anymore,” Moussa said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Joe Biden served as Vice President under Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States.

Currently, he has Kamala Harris, the first woman and the first person of South Asian and African American descent, as his Vice President.

Biden's comments aimed to underscore these historic firsts but inadvertently led to a verbal mishap.

This interview followed Biden's shaky performance in the first US Presidential debate against Donald Trump, raising questions about his vitality and preparedness for the upcoming election.

Despite these concerns, several leading Democratic governors have reaffirmed their support for Biden’s re-election bid.

In response to his debate performance and the growing scrutiny of his public appearances, Biden revealed during a private meeting with Democratic governors that he had undergone a medical check-up.

This disclosure was intended to reassure his supporters and address any health-related concerns.

As part of his ongoing campaign efforts, Biden will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to rally Democratic voters.

During this trip, he will also be interviewed by ABC News, providing another opportunity to connect with the electorate and clarify his vision for the future.

While President Biden’s recent gaffe has drawn significant attention, his campaign remains focused on reinforcing his message of unity and progress.

As the re-election campaign progresses, Biden and his team will undoubtedly aim to mitigate the impact of such missteps and maintain the support of the Democratic base.
