'Will Become Godse If He Comes To Odisha': Man Threatening To Kill Rahul Gandhi

In a disturbing development, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has lodged a formal complaint against an individual who threatened to assassinate Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. 

The complaint, filed on Thursday, highlights the severity of the threat and has prompted a swift response from the party’s leadership.

The complaint was presented to the cyber crime police station by OPCC vice president Sivanand Roy, with the support of OPCC president Sarat Patnaik, Campaign Committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das, and AICC General Secretary and Odisha Incharge Dr. Ajay Kumar. 

The Congress leaders expressed deep concern over the threatening online post made by a user identified as "@Bharat Cinema" on social media.

According to the OPCC, the online post explicitly stated, “Congress will never come to my Odisha. If in future Pappu comes, I will become Nathuram Godse.” 

This statement is a clear reference to Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, thereby implying a serious threat to Rahul Gandhi’s life. 

The user also shared photographs of Rahul Gandhi, making it evident that the Congress leader is the intended target of this threat.

The Congress party's complaint goes further to question the affiliations of the individual behind the threat. 

They raised concerns about the potential ideological connections between the user and organizations sharing the same extremist views as Godse. 

The OPCC urged the police to investigate whether “Bharat Cinema” has any links to such organizations, emphasizing the need for a thorough and scientific investigation.

The gravity of the situation is underscored by the party’s appeal for a comprehensive inquiry. 

The OPCC stressed the importance of uncovering the truth behind the threat and taking immediate legal action against the perpetrator. 

They highlighted that Odisha is traditionally a state of peace and tolerance, and threats of this nature undermine the state’s values and security.

Congress leader Biswaranjan Mohanty reiterated the call for a detailed investigation. 

He emphasized that Odisha has historically been a peaceful state, welcoming various political leaders and ideologies without incident. 

The emergence of such a threat is alarming and warrants a rigorous inquiry to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.

The complaint against the person behind the Twitter handle signifies a serious effort by the Odisha Congress to protect its leaders and uphold the state's peace. 

As the investigation progresses, it is crucial for law enforcement agencies to act decisively to ensure that such threats are not taken lightly and that the safety of political figures is safeguarded.
