Russian Targeted Bomb Hits Building in Ukraine: 3 Dead, More Than Two Dozen Injured
In a devastating event that has further fueled the ongoing conflict, a Russian guided aerial bomb struck a residential building in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, on Saturday afternoon.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attack resulted in the deaths of at least three people and left 29 others wounded.
This attack marks yet another painful episode in the protracted war that has inflicted severe casualties and suffering on both sides.
The bombing in Kharkiv is part of a broader strategy by Russia to undermine Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Officials in Kyiv reported a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks overnight targeting energy facilities across the country.
These assaults damaged critical energy installations in southeastern Zaporizhzhia and the western Lviv region, exacerbating the rolling blackouts that have plagued Ukraine.
The state-owned power grid operator, Ukrenergo, highlighted the severe impact of these attacks, noting the injury of two energy workers.
Ukraine's air defenses successfully intercepted 12 of the 16 missiles and all 13 drones launched by Russia, according to the Ukrainian air force.
Despite these efforts, the attacks have significantly damaged Ukraine's power generation capacity, leading to widespread power shortages.
This latest barrage marks the eighth major attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in three months.

The situation on the 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line remains largely static, with both sides making only incremental gains.
In the eastern and northeastern regions of Ukraine, recent pushes by Kremlin forces have achieved limited success.
As the conflict drags on into its third year, both sides continue to target infrastructure to weaken each other's ability to sustain military operations.
In response to the Russian attacks, Ukraine has also carried out strikes, targeting three oil refineries in southern Russia overnight into Friday.
Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that air defenses destroyed five drones over the Sea of Azov and the Bryansk and Smolensk regions.
Additionally, a man was killed in shelling in Russia's Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.
The governor of the eastern Ukraine's partly occupied Donetsk region reported that Russian attacks killed five people and wounded seven the previous day.
Meanwhile, in the Russia-controlled part of Donetsk, Moscow-installed Governor Denis Pushilin stated that three people were killed and four were injured in Ukrainian shelling on Saturday morning.
A separate incident in the partly occupied Kherson region saw a policeman killed in a Russian drone attack on a checkpoint, according to the Ukrainian National Police.
This series of attacks underscores the ongoing and escalating violence that continues to devastate communities on both sides of the conflict.
