In a tragic incident, a 70-year-old sadhu named Kamliwale Pagal Baba, who had been meditating for three days surrounded by several bonfires as part of a Panchagni 'tapasya' ritual, died on Sunday in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The intense heat and demanding conditions of the ritual ultimately proved fatal for the elderly ascetic. Kamliwale Pagal Baba, a resident of Amethi, undertook the Panchagni 'tapasya' in the village of Benipur under the Kaila Devi police station area.
