330 Million Kids Face Physical Punishment at Home: UNICEF
In a troubling revelation, nearly 400 million children under the age of five—representing six out of ten children within this age group globally—regularly endure psychological aggression or physical punishment at home, according to new UNICEF estimates. Of these, around 330 million children are subjected to physical means of punishment. This alarming statistic sheds light on the widespread issue of inadequate caregiving and the prevalence of harmful disciplinary practices. The findings also highlight the critical role of play in the development and mental health of children, parents, and caregivers.
