Horrifying Video Shows Seawater Turning Red as Shark Attacks Four People at South Padre Island in US

In a terrifying turn of events, four people were attacked by a shark in South Padre Island, Texas, during Fourth of July celebrations.

The attacks occurred within a few hours of each other, leaving beachgoers in shock and prompting a swift response from emergency services.

The first attack happened around 11 am on Thursday when 911 received a call reporting a severe shark bite to the leg.

The victim, a woman, was swiftly transported to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville after receiving first aid at the scene.

Good Samaritans were seen in a harrowing video dragging her out of the water, which had turned red from her blood.

The footage, shared on social media platform X, captured the chaotic and gruesome aftermath of the attack.

An eyewitness, Kyle Jud, 46, described the scene as horrific. “Beach patrol lifted her up — her calf was just gone, shredded. Horrific,” Jud recounted.

Within hours of the initial attack, three more incidents were reported.

A second person was bitten by the shark, and a third individual was grazed.

A fourth beachgoer sustained injuries while trying to fend off the shark.

Fire Chief Jim Pigg described the attacks as “unprecedented” for South Padre Island. “Shark encounters of this nature are not a common occurrence in Texas,” he said.

“When bites from sharks do occur, they are usually a case of mistaken identity by sharks looking for food.”

In response to the attacks, the police and fire department deployed drones to patrol the beach.

This aerial surveillance aimed to monitor the area for any further shark activity and ensure the safety of beachgoers.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department noted that shark bites are rare in the region.

They explained that when such incidents do occur, they are typically cases of mistaken identity, with sharks confusing humans for their natural prey.

The incidents have left the community and visitors on edge. Authorities are urging caution and advising people to stay out of the water until it is deemed safe.

The attacks serve as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking beneath the waves, even in popular tourist destinations like South Padre Island.

As the investigation continues and authorities work to ensure the safety of the public, the horrifying events of that day remain etched in the memories of those who witnessed the aftermath and the victims who endured the attacks.
