Will Fight With No Rules If Israel Wages War on Lebanon: Hezbollah

In a stark warning, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah declared on Wednesday that his group would "fight without restraint" if Israel wages war on Lebanon.

This declaration follows the assassination of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri in a precise strike within a Hezbollah stronghold in a Beirut suburb.

The incident has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) urgently calling for restraint and urging all parties to cease fire.

Nasrallah's address was unequivocal, condemning what he described as a "blatant Israeli attack" that resulted in the death of al-Arouri.

The assassination has already stirred significant regional tensions, with Iranian state media asserting that the killing would fuel further resistance against Israel.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati also condemned the assassination, suggesting that it aims to drag Lebanon deeper into the ongoing conflict.

The assassination of al-Arouri has prompted international reactions, with French President Emmanuel Macron appealing to Israel to avoid escalating the situation, particularly in Lebanon.

The call for de-escalation underscores the global concern about a potential spillover of the Israel-Hamas war into neighboring countries.

As tensions escalate, Israel is set to appear before the International Court of Justice in The Hague to contest accusations of genocide over its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

The charges, brought by South Africa, add another layer of complexity to the already volatile situation.

The conflict has already exacted a heavy toll on both sides.

According to Israeli officials, 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 in southern Israel, including 695 Israeli civilians and 36 children.

In response, Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip has resulted in at least 22,313 deaths and 57,296 injuries, as reported by the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled enclave.

In this tense atmosphere, Nasrallah's vow to "fight without restraint" if Israel engages in war with Lebanon signals a potential escalation that could draw multiple regional actors into a wider conflict.

The international community, particularly through UNIFIL, continues to call for calm and restraint to prevent further bloodshed and instability in the region.

The unfolding events highlight the precarious nature of Middle Eastern geopolitics, where a single incident can rapidly escalate into broader conflict.

The assassination of al-Arouri and the subsequent reactions underscore the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and foster dialogue between the involved parties.
