According to a planning brief, the building has limited views of the runway and fails to meet the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements for rapid response to airfield incidents. 

Emergency services have also pointed out the lack of separate watch rooms and waiting areas, which could lead to public interactions during emergencies. 

Moreover, the outdated facilities and absence of necessary amenities such as showers for firefighters further underscore the need for a new terminal.

Improved Safety and Functionality:
