"We Will Act Immediately": North Korea Warns US and South Korea Over Flying Planes Around Border

In a stark and defiant statement, North Korea has accused the United States and South Korea of ramping up surveillance activities along the inter-Korean border, warning that any violation of its sovereignty and security will be met with immediate action. 

This escalating tension comes amid a backdrop of increased reconnaissance operations by the US and South Korea, which Pyongyang perceives as a direct threat.

North Korea's defense minister, Kim Gang Il, made these accusations public via the state media outlet KCNA. 

According to Kim, "Even now, the US and South Korean puppet air forces are continuously mobilizing various aircraft with little or no time gap throughout the day, carrying out aerial reconnaissance activities at a level comparable to wartime situations." 

He emphasized the gravity of the situation by stating, "We will act immediately when the nation's sovereignty and security interests are violated."

He claimed that between May 13 and 24, the United States deployed at least 16 RC-135 and U-2S strategic reconnaissance planes, as well as an RQ-4B drone, over the Korean peninsula.

In addition to aerial surveillance, Kim also accused South Korea's navy and coast guard of exacerbating military tensions by expanding their patrols and breaching the maritime border.
